Do you make a salad that always steals the show at a barbecue? Do the neighbours beg you to make your special pavlova? Do your jacket potatoes or stuffed roast chook keep the kids coming home for more?

Australians are passionate about food and we have a wealth of recipes that have been passed down through generations. Whether it's Mum's apricot chicken, Dad's chewy Anzac biscuits or a special Bolognese with Nonna's secret ingredient, every family has a recipe they treasure.

We would love you to send us your favourites, taking part in the search for the ultimate Australian recipes I will be selecting for a cookbook to be published by Pan Macmillan Australia later in the year. A percentage of proceeds from the book will be donated to Legacy, the charity that cares for the families of incapacitated or deceased Aussie veterans.

We are looking for old photos of your nanna in her apron making scones, stories about how you learned to make your favourite dish and where the recipe came from, pictures of your family recipe journal all tattered and torn from years of use! We want to gather all these memories and make a book that will become a treasure and a constant reference itself. The book will feature the stories of everyday Australians and celebrate our Australian cuisine: the dinners, desserts, cakes and slices we crave, and how the food we eat has changed over the years.

It's not just about lamingtons anymore, we're looking for recipes for everything from tender roast lamb to Pad Thai, chicken curry, hummus, spanakopita... I could go on. Australia has such a breadth of flavours and we want to showcase our cooking at its very best.

I can't wait to see all your favourite family recipes and photos. See below for all the details.
